Oregon State Rep Nancy Nathanson (D) Eugene led the committee during a work session on June 12th, 2025 regarding Senate Bill 110, a bill that increases the funding for a new ball park from the original Senate Bill 5 back in 2003 from 150 to 800 Million. The bill is seen as crucial to bringing MLB to Portland, Oregon.

Salem, Oregon: The Oregon House Financing Committee just voted 7-0 to advance a bill aiming to help bring Major League Baseball to Portland in the near future. This procedural vote advances the bill to the full Oregon House of Representatives for a final floor vote at a later date.

The Oregon Senate voted in favor of advancing the bill to the House Financing Committee back on April 17th by a 24-5 margin (with one abstaining). John Canzano of the Bald Face Truth mentioned the day after that there were “whispers” the measure had the votes to pass. There are 60 members in the Oregon House of Representatives who will decide the bill’s fate (and possibly future MLB expansion) at a later date.

The proposed ballpark on the South Willamette waterfront in Portland at the site of the former Zidell Yards. The ballpark is expected to be ready by 2029.

No date has been set as of now for when the Oregon House will vote on the bill. Should the bill pass, it will head to Oregon Governor Tina Kotek’s desk. She has already vocally supported the bill previously. Until then, one major hurdle remains from keeping Major League Baseball in Portland. While the PDP has still not disclosed who the main investors or owners will be for a future MLB team in the Rose City, Craig Cheek, the PDP founder has confidently stated they have their ducks in a row as it comes to procedural steps. With Salt Lake City as their main threat to landing a team out west, all the PDP can do is wait and round third and bring home the next step in bringing Major League Baseball to the Rose City.
