IFL CUP COVERAGE CONCLUDES TODAY

East Rutherford, NJ: Starball’s coverage of the IFL Cup comes to a thrilling conclusion today at the American Dream Mall at the site of where they may have buried Jimmy Hoffa. New Mexico will battle Orlando in the consolation game while Vegas and Arizona will duke it out for the right the new named 2026 IFL Cup Champions. This could also be a potential Western Conference Final preview as well.

Orlando leads 20-3 with 6:42 left in the second quarter, after the Chupacabras FG from 32 yards out.

Pirates outgain Chupacabras 107-16 on offense to stake a 27-3 halftime lead. The 2nd half is about to begin.

New Mexico turned it over three times in the first half, after committing six turnovers against Arizona on Sunday.

The Chupacabras score on a 4:55 drive to begin the second half, going for two and succeeding, making it 27-11 Orlando with 10:05 left in the third quarter.

Orlando responded with a long TD throw to extend their lead to 34-11. 7:14 to go in the third from American Dream Mall.

Chupacabras turn it over on downs, at the Pirates 16, on 4th and goal. 1:24 to go, third quarter. Still 34-11.

Pirates turn it over on downs. New Mexico ball at their own 21 with just 4:35 remaining. Still 34-11.

Pirates have the ball after the Chupacabras turn it over on downs late in the fourth. One Minute Warning in New Jersey. 34-11 still.

Pirates score on a brilliant catch against the wall to top off the day for Orlando  as they are 54.2 seconds away from winning 3rd at the 2026 IFL Cup, leading 41-11.

Orlando defeats New Mexico 41-11, in the Consolation game at the IFL Cup. New Mexico, once again, turns the ball over multiple times to their own detriment in this game. Up next is the IFL Cup Championship Game at 7:30 PM EST

Arizona’s first drive ends thanks to a Drew Powell fumble, Vegas’ first  drive stalls at the Arizona 11, forcing a 27 yard FG by the Knight Hawks. 3-0 Vegas. 7:25 to go in the opening period here at the AMD.

Drew Powell gets his first TD pass of the day after the Vegas defense had the Rattlers on their heels. 7-3 Arizona with 4:01 remaining in the first quarter.

Vegas leads 10-7 after one quarter. Arizona has the ball 2nd and 6 at the Knight Hawks 10 when we come back.

Arizona and Vegas trade touchdowns. It’s 17-14 Vegas with 7:52 remaining in the first half.

UPDATE: 8:40 PM EST

After a Drew Powell 3 yard rushing TD, Arizona followed it up with a pick six off a deflection. The PAT was blocked, making it 27-17 Arizona, as we approach the One Minute Warning in the first half.

Things continue to get worse for Vegas, after DeLaura was sacked for a safety. But Powell fumbles away a golden opportunity at the Vegas 3 yard line, with just three seconds left in the half. DeLaura’s Hail Mary fell incomplete to make it 29-17 Arizona at halftime.

UPDATE: 9:27 PM EST

Arizona got a Deuce to start the half, followed by Vegas turning it over on downs. Arizona was then pushed back and forced to kick a 54 yard FG, which they missed. DeLaura would toss a TD pass from one yard out on the ensuing drive. Its 31-24 with 6:45 to go in the third quarter. Vegas has all the momentum despite being down 7.

Vegas forces their 4th turnover of the game, setting up a 5 yard DeLaura rushing TD. We are tied at 31 with 4:25 to go in the third.

UPDATE: 9:41 PM EST

Vegas picks off Powell again. Vegas would then score AGAIN. What an unbelievable come from behind performance by the defending champions. Its 38-31 at the end of the third quarter. We are in for a finish. QB change might be coming.

UPDATE: 9:49 PM EST

Arizona scored on their first play from scrimmage to start the 4th. Its 38-38 with 13:56 to go. What’s worth noting is that Drew Powell was not in the game for Arizona.

UPDATE: 10PM EST

Vegas is held to a FG attempt. 41-38 Knight Hawks with 9:05 remaining. QB change for Arizona. We’ll see if that sticks.

UPDATE: 10:14 PM EST.

Vegas scored, then Arizona took the preceding kickoff back to the Vegas two yard line. One Minute Warning. 48-38 Vegas up. Arizona QB change has sparked the offense.

UPDATE: 10:25 PM EST

Arizona scored, but failed the two points conversion. Onside kick replay will decide next possession. Vegas leads 48-44 with 33 seconds left. We are in for a great finish.

FINAL UPDATE: 11:11 PM EST

Vegas got positive yards on three straight plays to run the clock out and secure the victory. Vegas wins the inaugural IFL Cup 48-44.
