Mesquite, Texas: The MLIS and WMLIS announced earlier today that a new expansion team for this upcoming 2026-27 season will take the pitch in the Lone Star State.
Arena soccer will return to Mesquite, Texas after the Texas Outlaws played out of Mesquite Arena from 2019-2024, though they only played three seasons after being on hiatus for two of those.
The MASL recently suffered the loss of both the Outlaws and a longtime staple in the sport, the Dallas Sidekicks, back in 2024.
Mesquite United was founded back in 2020 by Travis Avant III. He currently serves as the club owner and director for Mesquite United. He was very excited about the opportunity to field two squads:
“Bringing professional indoor soccer to Mesquite through MLIS and WMLIS is the next step in our vision. “I want to create opportunities for players, coaches, families and fans to experience a higher level of soccer right here in our community.”
“Having both a men’s and women’s team was especially important to us,” he added. “We believe there should be opportunities for both men and women to compete at a high level and represent the Mesquite community.”
With CD Dallas La Cuadra already in the mix, Mesquite United will provide the opportunity for a rivalry (not to mention the Amarillo Bombers up in the Texas Panhandle nearby) in the Great State of Texas this upcoming season.
Avant was also quick to point out the level of competition and account of talent to be found in the DFW area:
“There is also a tremendous amount of soccer talent in Mesquite and throughout the surrounding Dallas-Fort Worth area. Our organization has seen firsthand how many players and families are passionate about the sport,”
“We believe there is an opportunity to give those players and families something they haven’t had locally, a professional soccer team they can call their own.”
The team has yet to find a home venue for the upcoming 2026-27 MLIS and WMLIS season. A further update will be provided once that information is confirmed.
Avant wants the team to be a community asset as well:
“We want people to understand that this is about more than simply bringing another soccer team to Mesquite,” Avant said. “Mesquite United FC is being built for the community.”
